Gay credits Madison like everybody else as "The Father of the U.S. He just assumes you already know about Madison. He also assumes you have read his works and in several parts he refers to remarks briefly so he can gloss over the issue he is writing about and there are some parts where you have no idea what you are reading. From the beginning he goes into pages and pages of criticizing other authors writings about where Madison was born. The author, Sydney Howard Gay, is an abolitionist who edited several newspapers during the middle 19th century and it is with some of this experience he approaches Madison's life.
